KU8770M - 8 Day Cuckoo New Style Kissing Couple
The first eye-catcher of this neat Black Forest half-timbered house is the green roof with bell tower. The facade is richly decorated with ornate half-timbered patterns and on both corners of the house there is a statue of a saint on a pedestal: on the left St. Florian, the protector against fires, and on the right Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. In front of the house there is a weekly market and you can see a Black Forest woman dressed in traditional costume with a basket on her arm walking across the market to choose from the colorful selection of fruits and vegetables. On the other side of the square, a pair of lovers is sitting on a bench.
The cuckoo, made of wood and painted, calls the number of hours on the hour (e.g. 3 times at 3 p.m.) and once on the half hour. After the cuckoo call, one of the two melodies sounds every half hour and the couples dressed in Black Forest costumes dance to it on the balcony. At the same time, the water wheel on the left side turns and the two lovers move closer to each other and kiss.
The mechanical rake striking mechanism runs for a week. The model has an automatic as well as manual night shut-off. Dial, numerals and hands are also made of wood.
This lovingly decorated cuckoo clock is made by the Hönes company in Titisee, which is deeply rooted in the centuries-old tradition of clockmaking and stands for Black Forest craftsmanship.
